We regularly support clients with Section 61 applications under the Control of Pollution Act 1974, preparing robust documentation that clearly demonstrates how noise and vibration will be controlled using best practicable means. Securing a Section 61 consent can provide contractors with greater certainty and protection against potential complaints, while giving local authorities confidence that impacts have been properly considered.

In addition, we provide comprehensive noise and vibration monitoring during construction to verify compliance with agreed limits and planning requirements. This enables potential issues to be identified early and addressed proactively, helping to minimise disruption to neighbouring receptors. Where required, we support contractors and project teams with practical mitigation strategies and ongoing advice to ensure works are carried out responsibly and in line with the construction noise and vibration assessment.

We assess noise from all different types of plant, including heat pumps, chillers, generators, condensers, extraction systems and industrial equipment. Surveys, calculations and modelling are used to determine impacts at nearby receptors and identify mitigation where required in accordance with BS 4142:2014+A1:2019. Where needed, we design practical, cost-effective solutions such as enclosures, louvres, barriers and layout optimisation to mitigate noise impacts.
